Professional Development
In the summer of 2009, Rob was asked to do a seminar for the TESOL Academy. This three-day seminar was centered around the TESOL Standards for ESL/EFL Adults. The book is designed to help teachers become better teachers. Rob chaired the writing team that put the materials together based on standards that the TESOL Standards committee developed.
Rob feels that the most effective way to use these materials, which includes, vignettes, discussions, and an extensive appendix, is to use it to reflect on your teaching style and philosophy. Therefore, his seminar dealt with designing your own personal professional development plan. Since then, Rob has done a simplified and shortened workshop as a keynotes in the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Peru, and California.
